I never knew how important food was to me until my kids started eating solid foods. I saw those beautiful little faces and realized I would do anything for them. And for all the things I can’t be there for, the one thing I could give, to take with them always, is the love of good, healthy food.
For the past 10 years, I’ve been cultivating this idea. And although the road was filled with good intention, it has sometimes been a very bumpy road to get there. Getting kids to eat well can be incredibly frustrating, and as a busy parent, you can run out of ideas quickly. But in the end, it’s honestly worth the extra effort. So I wanted to write this blog to pass on some things that worked for me – to share good, simple ideas, food favorites and easy ways to cook with/for your kids – to help nurture other budding little foodies.
This is not meant to be a gourmet’s view on eating. It’s for the everyday parent trying to have food not only fill the bellies but be tasty, healthy and enjoyable for the whole family. The love of good food is something that can be developed and encouraged from a very young age, and anyone can do it. You don’t have to spend tons of money or hours labouring in the kitchen. Sometimes it’s the little things.
I hope this blog will help to open little minds to new ideas, different ingredients and the delights of international foods. And remember, the better you get them to eat, the better you get to eat…so please enjoy.
